I can't believe the count..

I am an elementary music teacher and as such I take my instruments up to school and use them to teach the children. I actually had to count up the number of instruments I own for one class today...

1. Six clarinets ( C, A, Bass and three Bb.. only two of which work and only one is really a top quality horn. Of the other two I'm going to make a lamp out of one and the other one is going to be sold at the beginning of school next year. It will be a great beginner/inter horn.)
2. Two flutes (normal and a wooden Renaissance flute)
3. One Oboe
4. Three recorders (soprano, alto and tenor)
5. One Cello

I don't think that 13 instruments are too much... I think that 14 is a better number though...lol.

What is worse the little darlings asked me how long I have been playing my bass clarinet... 31 years. They can't get their heads around an age that is that large. lol.

Happy Solstice. I was lucky enough to be able to have dinner last night with dear friends at one of my favorite restaurants. Then join other friends while they played jazz. What a way to start Winter!

This is the part of the process that everyone dreads. The waiting. The submission process and voting Issue 8 has closed for the JPG Magazine and we won't find out which of the over 2600 photos will be published until January.

I have always found this time as one of hope. I'm not out yet and my photos were as good as any others on the site... well some were really awesome so maybe I should say as good as most...smile. There is hope and Issue 9, wink.

They are a cool group of guys that play at the Deco Lounge in Houston (corner of Gray and Brazos) on Wednesday nights. They needed some shots for publicity but didn't want the standard "here's the band type thing".

Some of the photos are really good, if I do say so myself.

Yesterday, was the second time that Daniel and I got KFC on a Friday because there was nothing in the house and we really didn't want to brave the crowd at the other restaurants. The first time his mother fell and broke her other hip and was in the ER when we got home and the second time (yesterday) we get a 3am phone call and she's back in the ER because she can't breath. It was congestive heart problems caused by fluid in her lungs and around her heart. So up to the hospital we go.

By the time we got down to Clear Lake she was stable and the resting. She was admitted to the ICU about 5:30am and we went home to start our day. Which consisted of going back up to the hospital twice more because she wouldn't do what the staff asked her to do and was calling the nurses "bitches." The word of a 92 year old woman; not mine. The only good thing about her complaining is that she is feeling a lot better!

I'm dead tired and trying to see what medication to take for the headache... can't tell what type it is right now. Goddess I'm tied.

So, the moral to the story is NO KFC ON FRIDAYS.

To the shock and surprise of my friends I actually did vote. Even though I don't think that my vote will make a difference in the long run. At least I will now have the right to bitch with everyone else.

Well, I got the corset finished and was able to wear it. Turned out to be tits on a shelve but hey. Found out something else... I don't trust people when they are complimenting me. It's ok when it's my work but I got quite a few compliments about the girls. I was a little uncomfortable about it and realized that I wasn't sure if they were just being nice or what. I will say that they were really out there...lol.

Well I had a really great photo shoot last week and the seamstress that we were shooting for chose most of her pictures from the ones that I took. http://www.meliciouscorsetry.com/gallery.html mine are under lidia for photographer. Felix is the other photographer that she chose some from and he is a professional photographer. I feel really good about my art and got a paying gig for her husband's band next week or so.

Orchestra is going good. Our next concert is Dec. 3rd. around Hobby... smile. They are really trying to get more bass clarinet parts for me which is really sweet.

Well, I'm off to sew some. Need something to wear tonight and really need to look fabulous in it. Mike is having another Safari party tonight and I have looked very frumpy at the last few.

How to recharge? Goddess, I wish I knew. I feel like every ounce of energy is being pulled of my being. Everything is taking from me and I can't seem to give enough.

Orchestra helps give back a bit. It is something for me and they are doing their best to always find a piece that has a bass clarinet part. The piece that I'm on for christmas goes down to low D which is only on the newer horns or should I say the professional line of bass clarinets that I can't afford even if there was a great need for one.

I'm really not stressing that much over anything, probably because that would take precious energy that I don't have right now. I was thinking that the cello might be a distraction but right now I'm not sure I'm even going to open the box and just send it back. We have a new swing choir at school and the kids are great. We are going to be able to really perform some nice music. They are all so excited.

I'm off the house plan as designer, again. This is the second time in 3 months that I have been replaced by someone on the web that will supposedly "get it done faster." It always comes back to me. I'm tired of being one of the buddies or the fall back girl. Sigh. I have an order for a dress remake that has had me at a stand still for months and I'm about to explode if I could only work up enough energy to do so. That may be what is saving the world.

M's mother is in the new nursing home and is having trouble adjusting. The old one won't let her back in since she broke her hip and can't walk. She doesn't want to do PT because she doesn't like the new people and she is taking that out on M as much as she can. He has had to go up there and make her do therapy. We had to back out of going to a halloween party because she was cursing out nurses. I was really looking forward to the party. Was actually going to read some tarot cards. That would have been the first time in years that I have read for someone other than myself.

How to recharge? Going on a vacation would only put me deeper into dept and I would still have all the work to think about. Sex. Now that would be nice, if the partner of choice was into being part of the process. Solo sex sucks.

Meditation, massage, photography, music, all the things that I have usually used to recharge and refocus aren't working anymore... maybe I'm no longer rechargeable.

Well I did it. I didn't really mean to, was just looking at the pricing and seeing what financing was available and the credit check went though and I ordered a cello. Granted it's a beginning instrument but I'm a beginning (again) player. It is used and a great price plus I got another 20% off and free shipping... I know I'm just justifying it to myself but hey.

Hospital time

Well, W/we have been at the hospital for almost 12 hours today. Daniel's mother fell yesterday while we were at the movies (Man of the Year) and broke her hip. When we got home they had taken her to the emergency room (oops sorry they are emergency centers now...) and were waiting for us to get there to admit her. This is the second hip that she has had replaced... at least now maybe she will be able to walk better, two new hips are better than one. She went though the surgery with flying colors and will be ok.

i'm tired. I was tried before but now I'm about to run mad with pure exhaustion.
